Alocasia amazonica is a hybrid Alocasia within unknown parents. It is also known as Alocasia African Mask, Alocasia Polly, and Alocasia Bambino (the latter two being unique cultivars of the Amazonica).

Light: Bright indirect light.

Water: Water when the soil is about 50-75% dry. Leaves will begin to droop. They like to dry out but do not allow the soil to remain dry for too long.

Repotting: Repot into a nutrient rich, chunky soil. You can add orchid bark, gravel, LECA, perlite, rice hulls, etc into a regular potting mix. If repotting into a glazed ceramic or plastic pot, you won’t need to water as often as the pot will retain moisture. Terra cotta or unglazed ceramic is sometimes better to allow more airflow to the soil.

Pet-Safe: No, sap contains calcium oxalate crystals, a substance that irritates skin, mucous membranes and the body. Pet will need to consume a lot of this plant to experience any irritation or sickness, it is okay to be around your pet.

Dormant Period: Many Alocasia species have a dormant period in the cooler, winter months. If the leaves on your Alocasia die back, it is not dead. Alocasias are bulb plants, so the bulb is very much alive. It will resprout under the right conditions in the Spring.
