XL Strelitzia nicolai 'Bird of Paradise' 6-7' tall, 14" pot

Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia nicolai) is native to parts of Southern Africa, and prefers bright indirect light. A few hours of direct sun is ok, they'll be happiest near a south or west facing window. Water when the top third of soil dries out, 

Splitting leaves on the Bird of Paradise is totally normal and natural. The splits allow for light to reach the lower portion of the plant.

The plant is mildly toxic to pets, while the flower is extremely toxic.
